Spotify Upon You

Dear Spotify,

I’m sure you’re all very nice people.  I’m sure you work very hard at what you do, and that organizing and managing that much music cannot be an easy task.  I commend you for your efforts.

But it only takes a few moments on Wikipedia to figure out that the Thompson Twins did in fact record other songs besides “Hold Me Now.”

Now I did give the song a thumbs up.  But that was my indication of general approval for both the band and the genre as well as the song.  That was not an invitation to play that song four times in the last two hours.  That’s not how I understood this was supposed to work.

I get that we just started this relationship.  We’re just beginning to learn about each other.  But if you can’t learn something as simple as throwing in “Doctor, Doctor” and “Lay Your Hands on Me” every once in a while, I’m afraid we don’t have much of a future.

Especially if you’re going to insist that REM never released anything but “It’s the End of the World as We Know It.”
